- 01/12/02 - Both our client server and the www.flamed.net website broke 8,000 clients, and hits respectivly.
- 01/09/02 - The client server broke 7,000 simultaneous clients.
This has not been done since the server was located at Globix, and still named irc.solidstreaming.net
- 01/07/03 - In order to give NAC.net (the corporation that houses the *.flamed.net IRC servers) some exposure for fronting the network services used by our IRC servers, we have renamed irc.flamed.net to irc.nac.net. Please note that nothing other than the name has changed, and every other facet of our IRC Services will remain unchanged.
- 12/24/02 - This web site can now be viewed via a secure encrypted connection. Merry Christmas!
- 11/15/02 - irc.flamed.net broke 6,000 simultaneous clients!
- 09/23/02 - The flamed.net main web page broke 4,000 hits!
- 09/19/02 - Upgraded irc.flamed.net to ircd-ratbox.
ircd-ratbox is a code fork of ircd-hybrid. It removes the "features" that EFnet will probably never use from ircd-hybrid.
- 08/03/02 - Generally speaking, all has been running well with little to no interruption.
- 03/02/02 - Our projected back date is the weekend of 3/10/02.
Assuming all goes well with the shipping, we should be back up by the end of the weekend.
- 02/27/02 - We called a vote with .us Routing to relocate our servers from Globix - NYC to Net Access Corp. (NAC) - NYC.
The motion passed with 5 "YES" votes and one "NO" vote. The final touches are being done on both servers and we hope to be back up sometime the weekend of March 9th. When the servers return, the hub will be named ircd.flamed.net. Thanks to everyone who offered their help and support during all of this.
- 02/22/02 - The ETA on the return of our EFNet servers is still uncertain.
We currently await a vote to be called on .us Routing. The outcome of will be posted here at the close of the vote. Thanks to all those who have privmsg'd or emailed with their support.
- 02/16/02 - Due to circumstances beyond our control, irc.flamed.net and ircd.solidstreaming.net are absent from the network.
More information will be posted here as the situation develops.
- 01/17/02 - Unfortunately, the Denial of Service attacks on irc.flamed.net have still been fairly frequent.
As such the I:lines for the TLD's will remain closed for the time being. If you have any information regarding any of the attacks, or have a question, please contact us.
- 01/07/02 - The I:lines for the TLD's (i.e. *.com, *.net, etc.) that we had have been commented out due to Denial of Service attacks to our client
server. If you are on an end/home user ISP (such as aol, @home, att, etc.) you should be able to still use our server. The TLD I:lines will remain closed on irc.flamed.net for at least a couple of
weeks. Hopefully at the end of that period we will be able to uncomment them.
- 01/04/02 - irc.flamed.net re-broke 1000 clients. First time since the rename.
- 01/02/02 - The client server has been renamed from irc.solidstreaming.net to irc.flamed.net.
- 11/23/01 - The I:lines on the client machine have been tweaked a little bit to allow a few more clients to connect.
Old K:lines, D:lines, X:lines, and Q:lines have been removed to give everyone and everything a fresh start should we be able to start taking large numbers of clients in the close future.
- 11/11/01 - The client machine has returned and allows users on dialup connections from many isp's to connect. If everything runs smoothly
(i.e. we don't get DoS'd) we will be able to open it for more users in the not too distant future.
- 11/5/01 - The client machine has been taken offsite for a few small upgrades and a small repair. It will return sometime in the close future..
- 10/30/01 - The routes to the client machine have been restored. The I:Lines however will remain -very- closed for the time being until we
are comfortable with the current setup. At that point we will hopefully be able to open them slowly.
- 09/25/01 - Due mainly to the fiber cuts caused by the WTC incident in the NYC area, the BGP routes to the Solid Streaming client server have been
dropped. This means that remote users will not
be able to reach our client server. The client server remains linked to our hub via an internal interface (i.e. the client server never splits from the hub) and that is why it still appears to be linked. We hope at some point that we can fully return the client server back to EFNet.
- 07/29/01 - We have changed the bot policy on the client server slightly. For more info see /motd irc.solidstreaming.net or view the IRC Server Rules.
- 07/23/01 - The client server has made it's return to EFnet! We have also made several configuration changes. Please visit this message on our forum for more details.
- 07/22/01 - The client machine has been totally redone and will be on a new IP address when it returns, which will hopefully be later today or
early tomorrow. We will be open I:lined, but only allow a maximum of 3,000 clients to connect. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or use our online forum.
- 07/20/01 - The client server has been under a large Denial of Service attack for about 3 days and has been null routed until further
notice. The HUB is up and linked to the network however. We anxiously await the final release of ircd-hybrid-6.1 so that it will be easier for leaf servers to hide HUB IP addresses.

The new machine is a 1U rack mount case with a Pentium III 1ghz CPU, 768 MB SDRAM, and an Ultra 160 SCSI 15,000 RPM Seagate Cheetah. Any problems the old machine may have been experiencing, will no longer be an issue.

- 03/25/01 - The IRC server now has 512mb of ram (up from 384mb).
The TCM was K:lining a ton of clients as they connected for connect flooding, this has been resolved and the K:Lines have been lifted.
- 03/24/01 - The open I:Line policy has changed slightly. We now allow ONE connection per IP address. If your site requires more than
one connection per IP address (behind a gateway/proxy/etc), please fill out our I:Line Request Form.
- 03/20/01 - Added local oper boii to the irc.solidstreaming.net ranks.
- 03/18/01 - A handful of ISP's are now limited to 100 connections per full class c of IP's, and only be allowed to have one connection per IP
